Omar's Pay Raise May Thwart his Chance for the Hal

Omar recieved a two year 15 million dollar extension that kicks in after this year.

If Omar doesn't hit at least .290 and steal some bases, along with stellar defense, he may recieve a lot of negative publicity in his final two years of his contract.

There is the possibility that Omar retires after his current contract expires in 2004.

If Omar's final two years of this current contract consist of a .250 Batting Average, minimal stolen bases, and less range in the field, yet he is making 7.5 million for each of those two final years, might this lead to a negative final image of Omar that might stay in the minds of the Hall of Fame Voters?

By the way, Kaiser does not concur at all with my postion. Perhaps Kaiser is Omar's staunchest supporter.

The fact that Kaiser could not figure out how to post his response here (Instead he mistakenly started a new topic post) does not bode well for Omar.
